What does it mean to truly pray for the spread of God's word? In 2 Thessalonians 3:1, the Apostle Paul makes a striking and specific request: that the word of the Lord would have free course. This is not a vague or general prayer. It is a warfare prayer, rooted in the understanding that we are engaged in a spiritual battle every time the gospel goes forward. Just as floodwaters cut through everything in their path, the word of God carries an independent, unstoppable power when nothing blocks its way.
